Launch (Part 2): The Party

Saturday, September 10th from 11 AM to 1-ish PM, we (that is, Steve & I, Kim & Steve Jr.) hosted a Launch Party for Cecilia & Will.  Included were immediate family and friends of the kids.  [Check out the previous post for more information about the party--an explanatory poem, etc.]  The house and the day were full of love.  Pictures are worth thousands of words, right?

Parked next to the Pelligrino are Savannah's party shoes!
Part of the reason I wanted to have the party--
to see and celebrate all the children of the
'kids' that Will & Steve grew up with.
Three or four weren't able to come, along with their parents, but I had a wonderful time with the little people at the party.

she was the oldest child attending!)

One of the highlights of the party for everyone
was the race that John Monday had with some of the little people out in the back yard.  Most everyone was inside watching Cecilia & Will open presents.  Catching our eye out the windows was John's pale blue shirt whizzing by, followed by Veronica and little Will. They did three laps and never knew we were watching and laughing out loud. Here are some pix that Kim mananged to get. (BTW John & Jo just found out they're going to be the grandparents of twin boys--John must be practicing!)

John tries to lap Veronica

John declares Victory!

Veronica & Will protest the race.
(According to eye witnesses, John took a shortcut)

There was fun with Lamby, a stuffed sheep footrest that I've enjoyed for years.

Kennedi wonders if this is anything like her dog at home,
and looks to Daddy for some advice.

Savannah wants Will to help her feed Lamby

There were people to meet and chairs to rock and plastic bottles that made a great noise when thrown on the concrete patio.
Sorry!  This granny-wanna-be is in bad shape, right?!
Kennedi & Johnny communicate through the glass.
Call me crazy, but the fingerprints & drool are still on the door!
It makes me smile.

Veronica enjoys a rocker

Johnny's favorite toy made a great plastic clatter when dropped.
His black eye was no doubt sustained another day from trying to keep up with big brother.

Kennedi &Will found some balls that were very interesting.

Savannah wants C & W to open her present to them

. . . and is glad to help!

Along with some very generous gift cards, Cecilia & Will received lots of gifts and warm wishes.  What follows is a collage of their blessings and gifts.

Granny Goose & PawPaw Bill came!
and so did one of Dad's wonderful caregivers, Crystal

Uncle Doug talks with long-time friend John

Fred suggests that Cecilia & Will name the baby Fred,

Aunt Iris, Will & Cecilia have a quiet chat
after the party.

The Top Chef took a break after the guests left
And now, the intendeds are packing their bags for Brazil.  They leave on September 25th.  I'll count the days until I get to go there (January 2012).  Until then,
