New Faces In Daniel's World

Hi!  It's Daniel again.  Everyone has been sick in my house--even me.  BUT, we're all better now and happy things are happening.

There are all kinds of new faces in my world since yesterday!
This is my Great Aunt Iris when she first saw me on Tuesday.

This is my Great Aunt Iris pushing me in my stroller.
She didn't care who else was with me!

Great Aunt (GA) Iris and my Great Uncle (GU) Doug in Icarai.
I think GA Iris closed her eyes so she could smell the pretty flowers.
They came all the way from Texas to hug Mommy and Dad.
And hold me and bring me presents and smile at me.

They met us on the sidewalk in my neighborhood.

See my GA Iris?  She still has her hands on my stroller.
Even in the restaurant where they ate breakfast, I sat next to her.
I had a great meal too!

My GA Iris knows how to snuggle me just like she snuggled my Dad!
She told me she likes to have
two pairs of glasses on her face all the time.

Iris at the hotel just after her overnight flight.

Doug, glad to be off the plane after a pleasant, long airplane ride.

Gigi got a welcome gift for GA Iris and GU Doug.

GA Iris made some Chicken Soup for my GiGi
because GiGi took my cold from me.
GU Doug tasted the soup and said it was really good.
GA Iris likes my kitchen.

GA Iris likes to help people.
She made good Chicken Soup that helped my GiGi feel better.
Mommy and Dad felt better too when GU Doug
handed them the bouncy seat they brought from the States.
See--I like to move, and I don't like to sleep that much.
This seat rocks and vibrates.
I didn't know what vibrates means until . . .

. . . until Mommy sat me in it the first time.
See how wide open my eyes are?
I like vibrates.
Didn't GA Iris and GiGi do a good job
assembling the seat for me?!
These GREAT people came to see me on Tuesday.  Great Aunt Iris played the piano for me.  Great Uncle Doug went with Dad to do some stuff for the wedding on Saturday.  I cried a lot and didn't want to sleep all day, but everything was better for me on Wednesday.

On Wednesday morning, GA Iris and GU Doug came back to my apartment and I smiled at them.  Then more GREAT people showed up.  GiGi's best friend Josie and her husband John (who wants me to call him Poppi) came.  I took a good nap and was really happy to see everyone.
Poppi and Josie like GA Iris' soup because it had lots of noodles in it.
S-L-U-R-P!

Everybody smiles at me.

I like to sit in my bouncy seat while Mommy opens my presents.

Josie and Poppi gave me some 'jungle' clothes
since I live in Brasil.
I like monkeys.

GU Doug is happy to see Mommy and me.

Poppi has a good lap.
He's been practicing with his twin boys Jack and Luke that belong to Josie's big boy Brandt.
(We three were supposed to share a birthday, but they beat me by just a few weeks.)
GU Doug likes the view.
GiGi tells me that Josie is a librarian.
I don't know what that means,
but it sure was fun to read the book she gave me.
She says that you're never too young to read a good book.

I like my book about animals.

Josie tells me all about a crocodile,

and asks me if I like crocodiles.
Never smile at a crocodile, Josie!

Then the next time I look at the book, there are new pictures.

Josie says she used to read to my Dad when he was a baby.
Naawwww!  My Dad was never a baby!
Poppi asked to hold me and we chilled out together.
He bounces almost as good as my new seat!

GA Iris thinks it's time for me to try the new hats she brought me.
She, Mommy, and GiGi all agree that strange ladies should
definitely not be kissing me on the head.
We took a walk yesterday, and
she nearly got a whiplash when she turned to protect me
from a potential 'drive-by kissing.'

Poppi helped me pose when GA Iris put my cap on.
He said the colors were cool,
but they didn't match my magic socks-of-the-day.

DUDE!

GA Iris put a bucket on my head or something.
Not sure what to do about that one.
She says nobody will kiss my head with this hat on.
It's really GREAT to have so many new faces in my world.
I think they all love me a lot.
Why else would they spend all night on an airplane . . .

. . . just to come to my apartment to give me presents
and smile at me
and hold me
and hug my Mommy and Dad!

The Gringa has been away from the computer for several days now.

Unavoidable!

I miss journaling.

Maybe tomorrow . . .

Daniel's Dates With GiGi

Hi! It's Daniel again. My GiGi says that some people like Daniel stories. So here goes. Once upon a time . . .

. . . every morning I have a date with my GiGi. We hang out in the rede. That's a Portuguese word for net or hammock. (See? I'm bi-lingual!)

GiGi and Daniel in the Rede
I like to swing in the rede. I can look out the window.  I see big birds flying over the bay, and boats with white sails floating on the water.
Can you see the mountain that Mommy calls "The Sleeping Giant?"
I feel the breeze.
I hear the cars and buses.
Sometimes there's a siren.
I listen when a buzzy motor scooter goes by.

The rede is red. It makes a really great squeaky noise where it hooks to the walls. Especially when my GiGi sits with me and swings.  When she holds me in the rede, she sings "Froggy Went A-Courtin'" or "Jesus Loves Me."
We talk about animals
                 or colors
                      or Mommy and Dad
                               or Grand Dad in Texas.
This is the Froggy that goes a-courtin'.

My GiGi sings while we swing.

GiGi likes to kiss my head.
I like to yawn.

She pats my back to help me get rid of the Hiccup Monster. He usually comes after I eat. Stupid Hiccup Monster.
I fuss at that Stupid Hiccup Monster.

When my GiGi swings with me and sings,
and the rede makes that squeaky noise,
and the cars and buses drive by under the window,
                                             and the breeze blows,

and the Stupid

Hiccup

Monster

goes
away,
I can't help it! I fall asleep.

(Sometimes my GiGi doesn't realize that she puts her clothes on inside out.)

My GiGi holds me while I sleep. She keeps the rede moving so I can dream of flying like a bird, or sailing away on a big boat. Or riding on a bus like I did when I was in Mommy's tummy.

When I wake up and open my eyes, my GiGi is still there. She smiles when she talks to me. I smile at her.

I like having dates with my GiGi.

Birthday Boy Absent for April 11 Celebration

Daniel was asleep for his 2 month birthday song.
But we were all so sleep-deprived-silly, that we celebrated anyway.
Sort of . . .

A little cake from Beira Mar topped with a perfect whole shelled walnut--
Will's proud trophy from months of shelled walnut pieces.
We couldn't find a #2 candle, so we improvised with 3 - 1.

Will found a strange substitute
for this photo op--a dish towel and a box of juice.

We found a smiley blog picture of the birthday boy
to pose with his cake.

Cousin J got a haircut!

Aunt Flora, Dad, and Mommy sang and clapped.

Vovo Dora did too.

We believe in the old saying--NEVER WAKE A SLEEPING DANIEL!

BTW--this post is delayed for two reasons
1. Little Man has been sick with a cold :~{
2. Will has had lots of work projects on the computer he lets me borrow for blogging :~D
